The Multimedia Demonstrator Programme was a funding initiative by the UK's DTI (a government department) to promote take-up of interactive technology by small businesses.
The MMDP web site provided information on each of the projects as well as a confidential arena in which projects could communicate with each other.
Perl programming was used to handle a discussion forum for projects and to randomise the project shown when each section of the site was first visited.
Information on the MMDP site was later subsumed into the larger UK-Online for Business government web site.
