Great Season for Local Fishermen

'Boat modernisation improves catches', says Ministry

The Ministry of Food and Tourism announced yesterday that the past three month period had been one of the most profitable for the Moradan fishing fleet since records began in 1765. Sr Alonso Edmond, the press spokesperson, went on to praise the efficiency and bravery of the fishermen. He said "They go out in all weathers and at whatever time of the day or night is necessary in order to bring back the fish".

During the past two years the fleet has been modernised and today's Moradan fishing vessel can call upon all the benefits that new technology can bring. The Ministry has insisted that radar, ship-to-shore telephones and global positioning satellite navigation is installed in every ship. To help the captains to afford this, a government grant of up to 75% of the cost is available and the spokesperson attributed the good season to the influence of the new technology.

New Flights Announced

Adventure Air Morado has announced three direct flights per week from London's famous Elstree Aerodrome to Morado Field.

This is the first time that a long-haul flight has been allowed to land at the nation's premier air field because of fears of disturbing local cattle. However, the Ministry of Food and Tourism, recently formed by a merger of the Departments of Agriculture and External Affairs, report that government scientists have allayed the fears of local farmers.

"It is a great day for relations between two of the world's great trading nations" said the Prime Minister Ms Patricia Edmund speaking at a reception to launch the service.

Air Morando Chief Executive Sr Mykola Pawluk also announced that the company would soon be unveiling its new livery. The designs have been chosen by a competition amongst local school children and celebrate the geological diversity of the islands.
