A bibliography of at least 205 references has been compiled from the U.S. Patent Bibliography File relating to patent specifications which concern the equipment employed and the methods used in infrared imaging technology. The design, construction and calibration of imaging systems, as well as methods of sensing, storage and conversion, are included; in addition, the uses of such images in eye examination and in aerial reconnaissance are covered. However, references to specifications concerning infrared detectors are excluded.

A Kind of New Material Usable in Infrared Streak Cameras

A novel material has been formulated for electron trapping infrared "up-conversion", and consequent use in an infrared streak camera; details are provided of its response to infrared radiation over a wide range (0.8 to 1.6 µm), and it can provide a quantum efficiency as high as 66%. Information is also available of the time resolution of which it is capable, and its efficiency for energy conversion. (In Chinese)

Satellite infrared observations over the Gulf Stream region of the northern Atlantic Ocean have produced imagery whose analysis and interpretation have been investigated. The modules developed form the Semi-Automated Mesoscale Analysis System (SAMAS), and details are given concerning its nature, and the methods of making use of it. AD-A294 261/3GAR.

An infrared sensitive material is described which consists of a polymeric semiconductor compound capable of absorbing an infrared signal; this compound is cross-linked with a spiropyran which is able to produce a visible absorption band. The material is exposed imagewise to infrared radiation, so that a variable birefringence and variable absorption are provided in the visible region, these being a function of the infrared radiation received. A visible image is produced in this manner.
